We start our Jesse Tree on December 1st, rather than on Advent because it keeps it simple, going over the same verses and routine from the 1st to the 25th each year. Advent is different lengths every year. Day 1 of the Jesse Tree is hunting for the perfect branch. We learned Isaiah 11:1 and placed it on the wall. This may be our least-pretty branch yet. We send the boys out every year to bring us options, but pickin's were slim. It lacks the graceful curve all of our others have had. It's kind of just "there".
And our wreath has seen better days. It was a cast-off years ago, draped with other cast-off decor. I squeezed candle holders underneath and through the branches. In the center, shabby though it may be, is a pinecone wreath candle holder that Chris and I used to hold our unity candle in our wedding. It was well-used before that even, but I'm sentimental that way and will not throw it away.
Out of order, but we put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. Our tradition has always been that the youngest puts the star on top. I'm not sure what we'll do next year. It doesn't seem fair for Sarah Grace to get the job from here out.

I'm not sure why, but Daddy gave her a ladder this year. It scared her mama, but she was awfully proud of herself.
And today, we added our first ornament to the tree. We learned Genesis 1:1 (woohoo! they remembered from last year!) and pulled out last year's very homemade ornament.
Very simple. Rudimentary even. But we love it.

I love your tree! It is fun to start Christmas early. It is over much too quickly otherwise ;-)
