Deal!

NotebookingPages.com is having a sale on their Christmas Copywork pages.  The file is only $1.00!  I think these are beautiful.  We've been using them this year to copy our Jesse Tree verses and build our own Jesse Tree books.  I realize there isn't a lot of use to be gotten out of them between now and Christmas, but it is completely worth buying for next year.

Black Friday

I haven't decided if I'm shopping the day after Thanksgiving or not. I love the deals to be had, but I end up buying presents for myself, too, which doesn't exactly save me money on my Christmas shopping. I already have half of my gifts bought, so I'm thinking about staying home and shopping online instead. Several stores have black friday sales. Amazon, Hands of a Child, and The Old Schoolhouse Store are 3 that have participated in the past. Any other sites that you know of?

www.TheOldSchoolhouseStore.com is starting their sale the day before Thanksgiving and lasts until the 30th. Check them out on Wednesday, November 26th for the 3rd Annual Black Friday Sale. This year, they are already advertising that you'll be able to purchase a subscription to their magazine for only $7.95......um, that's a YEAR of magazines for the price of ONE magazine. With the subscription, you also get access to free downloads and such. Another nice feature: shipping at The Old Schoolhouse Store is always free.

So, do you go out early in the cold for black friday sales? Do you know of any online deals to be had? Please share, I'm a deal-junkie and could use a fix.

Find!

I just found a new and gently-used book site called Homeschool Library Builder and they are having a $1.00 sale. I've just spent the last hour perusing their site and I must say...I'm impressed! They specialize in collecting quality literature and they offer their books at a great price. I just purchased Betsy-Tacy, Mr. Revere and I, George Washington's Breakfast, Homesick, and I Wonder Where Butterflies Go in Winter for a total of $8.00 (I picked a couple up from the $2.00 bin.) The shipping was very reasonable at $4.50. $12.50 for books I already had on my shopping list!

The part that has me excited about this site is that you get to earn free books. It works kind of like Scholastic does for teachers, if you've ever dealt with that. You earn a point for each dollar you spend. So tonight, I earned 8 points from my purchase. 15 points equals $1.00 worth of free books. If you are stocking up on your literature for the school year, this could quickly add up to a lot more dollars worth of free books.

Also, since I just shared a link to their website, I just earned 75 free points. That's $5.00 worth of free books! And if you tell them I sent you, they'll give me another 45 points....an extra $3.00 worth of free books.

Did I mention there are free books involved?

Did I mention how much my husband hates building bookshelves?

They also offer Fundraisers and have assembled free unit study links. Not just your typical book seller site.

If you can resist browsing in a $1.00 book bin, you are a stronger woman than I. I would need a 12-step program before reaching that level of self-control.

I was directed to this great website through participation in the TOS crew.....bringing me even closer in friendship with my wonderful mailman....

Deal

I've already mentioned my love of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. I even gave away a subscription. But I thought I'd share again in case anyone was interested in receiving their magazine. They are running a great deal right now for the fall season. You can get two years of the magazine, 6 physical gifts (no downloads!) worth over $120, plus the current issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine for only $39. It really is one of their best deals ever and they are also throwing in a cute Homeschooling with Heart totebag (valued at $13.95) for the first 1000 to subscribe. About half of them are gone, but you should still be able to get one if you hurry! (They will remove the info from the subscription page when the bags are all gone.) The total value is over $212, but it only costs 50% off of cover price of the magazine! Also, subscribers get their online monthly Teacher's Toolbox which focuses on a different topic each month, giving you words of encouragement, hands-on teaching ideas, book recommendations, field trip ideas, and a bonus download item. I really appreciate the Teacher's Toolbox. The free download is always something I would have wanted anyway, not just silly stuff. And the links and ideas make great unit studies.

If you're interested, visit their site and check it out.

Homeschool Deal

I just ran across a great sale and thought I'd share. It's called Softbasics - software for mastering the basics. It is a CD set that includes lots of printables, customized test-makers, and on-screen activities. This is intended for ages 6 to 13. The sale is for 75% off, so at the moment, the cd set is only $6.95. The shipping is free and they accept paypal. Can't beat that with a stick!

My heart's all a-flutter

BookCloseouts.com is having a huge sale. No, people, I mean HUGE. It's a $1.00 sale. When I first went through the list, I had a little note blinking in the corner saying "You have saved $1500.00." While that's a lot of money to save, it also meant I was spending more than I should, so I whittled it down to saving $450.00. I bought 37 books for $32.00 using a coupon. The shipping did come up to $15.00, but that's a lot of books and still totally worth it. And they were GOOD books. Lots of Christian books on there too.

So visit bookcloseouts.com, click on their August special, and use a coupon if you also are addicted to books.

I won! I won! I won!

From the Bloggy Giveaway that I posted about, I won a book, entitled Let's Get Ready for First Grade! to use with Honor. I'm really just calling it preschool, but the Kindergarten book covered the topics she already knows and this book's topics looked right at her level. The book was a gift from the author, Stacey Kannenberg, who was a guest blogger on ADHD & LD Resource Blog. Thanks, Stacey!

And I won the DVD Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake. This was a gift from Valeria at Val's Views, another fun giveaway blog. Thanks, Valerie!

I also won free cereal. But I don't eat the stuff, so I'll just have to have my own giveaway here, huh? Why did I sign up for a contest for a prize I didn't want? I have no idea. I signed up for at least 300 different prizes that day and they all started to blur. I'm pretty sure I signed up for burp clothes too and my baby is almost 3. Don't try to understand me.

I'm loving this winning streak. Did I mention that I won a free pan last week? It is so very pretty. It's the $98, stainless steel pan from Pampered Chef. My host (who happened to be my mom,) also won the same pan. And all the guests at her show won a free BBQ rub. Fun night! I don't recall winning much of anything up until recently, so this is really nice! The pan is amazing. Perhaps I'm a little lame to get so excited about a pan, but I'm telling you: It is AWESOME. But that's a post for another day.

The one thing I was really hoping to win, however, didn't come through. I am desperate for a blog makeover. There were several contests for them, but alas, it was not meant to be. I've played with the html and even maneuvered a 3-column layout on another blog....but I lost all the widgets. I made a cute header for another.....and then realized I was breaking all sorts of copyright laws. I've played with the fonts and such here....what do y'all think? Come now, be honest. I'm even thinking of new blog title. It represented a major life lesson I needed to learn and through this blog, God really did teach me. I finally GOT it. It could simply be a celebration of a lesson learned, but something fresh sounds fun. Thoughts?
