Vicodin makes her grumpy

It's been an interesting week with Chris. He's not the most agreeable patient on a good day, but throw in pain meds and he's....well, even less agreeable. The pain meds add an element of "unreasonable". He snuck out of the house this week (yes, yes, the proper word is "sneaked" but I refuse) because he wanted to drive himself and knew I wouldn't like it. I heard the car door close and attempted to catch him, but he drove off laughing. He made the trip alone, but forgot to take the paperwork he needed with him.

Through the mold and the allergies and the termites and the crashed jeep and the looming layoff and the financial woes....we've drawn closer together and faced it all as a team. Throw in a sprained ankle and pain meds and we argue. Chris went off the pain meds on Friday because he insists the vicodin brings out the worst in me. I tried pointing out that I'm not the one taking vicodin, but he suggested maybe I'd be more pleasant if I did. If you can follow his line of reasoning, you should probably consider going off of your pain meds as well.

We're vicodin free and the world is a happy place again.

Especially happy today because it is Columbus Day. We've been celebrating Columbus Day since high school when Chris decided Valentine's Day was commercially corrupt and refused to celebrate it. He compensated with Columbus Day romantic dates. Tonight, we hit a Mexican Restaurant, the movies, and then the coffee house. Will it totally kill the romance if I ask to stop and buy yarn before the movie?

My first Columbus Day gift from Chris was a Harry Connick, Jr. cd. This year, I have a gift for him that was so cheap, I fear it must be pirated. It wasn't even supposed to be available in the US when I bought it, so it looks pretty suspicious. I wanted it so badly at the time that these thoughts didn't occur to me. I will choose to ignore them now. I don't think any gift could top last year's. Last year I was flat broke and opted to draw a map to the New World with a sharpie on my skin. Sometimes, it's the simple things.

So, how about you? Any Columbus Day plans?

I hope that you are able to laugh about all this because I sure am (and I'd much rather be laughing with you than at you). You have a hilarious way of expressing yourself even in the middle of such trying times. I can soooo relate to the ankle thing. My husband had ankle surgery a year and a half ago. It wasn't pretty.

Blessings to you!

It's eerie how we think alike sometimes...our last "date" was to Hobby Lobby to buy yarn. I've been obsessed with crochet for about the past 3 months.

Columbus Day plans...

We spent the entire day painting our bedroom - and we didn't yell at each other even once! Does that count? LOL (Painting usually causes arguing...)

Oh, were we suppose to celebrate? I spent the day checking the mailbox and calling repair automated voices.

In honor of the day I shall go check out my spice rack!

Have a great Hon, love ya!!!
