She's got legs

Chris has 3 grey hairs. They are rather new and rather attractive. He doesn't come from a long line of early-go-greyers though. These grey hairs seem to have come from stress. Sure, he's working from 10:00a.m. to midnight every day. Sure, the bills are mocking us. But these things don't seem to bother him too much. The only thing I've seen him look truly troubled about is his realization that the girls were not going to stay little forever.

I saw him notice for the first time only a couple weeks ago. Honor ran into the room, decked out as a ballerina, and swung her long legs in the air. This child has LONG legs. They have long ago lost their baby fat. Her legs are beautiful. She's 4. His eyebrows raised and he turned 2 shades of pale and grey. He muttered the tiniest "eep".....but I heard it.

Since then, I have several times seen her flutter her butterfly-princess-mermaid-ballerina self through the room, with the shadow of the beautiful woman she will one day become trailing her. So has Chris. I know he has seen it because he grabs his chest, or his hair, or his face and gets very pale. I exaggerate not.

He has mentioned buying a gun. I caught him muttering about needing to practice looking menacing. He only has about a dozen more years until he needs to look very intimidating with his gun. Best to start practicing now.

Last night, we were discussing how odd it is that such a young child could have such a tiny waist and curvy hips....she's not yet FIVE! Highly entertained at his gasps for breath, I mentioned that I had never seen a woman with a tiny waist and curvy hips who did not also have counter-weight up top. I pointed out that Honor would one day be growing *those*.

"I'm sorry, hon. I know this is hard for you. But there is no getting around the fact that your daughter is going to be a hotty."

He shook his head in bewilderment and said, "I know, I know....but where does she get it?!?"

***blink***

Now, this is generally where a woman gets her feelings good and hurt, but I just laughed. There is no getting around the fact that I am built like a 12 year old boy. I am who I am. So I pointed out that his mother and my sister are both EXTREMELY hot. She has inherited some very good genes.

He curled up in the fetal position and cried.

Okay, that time I exaggerated. Just a little.

And the moral of the story? Um, the '80's were weird.

My Meggie has always been all curvy and cute, and she has a natural flair for flirtation, too. We're going to be in a world of hurting when she grows up. :-)

Hey! I thought Chris might like this: A song to be sung by fathers of infant daughters. :-)

Hello Jennifer Ann,
You have 3 sisters. Which one of us is extremely hot, so that we might feed our ego? Although, I think all 4 of us are pretty darn cute.

Jennie, that is hilarious!!!!

Misty, all of my sisters are smokin' hot...don't draw me into that mess ;P But yes, there is one in particular, who is, um, stacked. And tiny waisted with curvy hips. And, lest she get a big head, I will refrain from naming names.

i was reading and thinking how hilarious this post is...until i came to the realization that we'll be in the same boat soon. ack!

after luke's ultrasound dan and i high fived each other and celebrated the fact that we wouldn't have to deal with all the "girl stuff" and the weddings, etc.

we're excited to be having a girl, but to be honest it freaks me out. for right now i'm putting all the "girl stuff" out of my mind. denial is a wonderful thing. :)

i didn't notice your comment on my previous post until just now.

we are bathroom readers! i can't tell from the picture but it was more than likely a magazine on the hamper, maybe a book. pregnancy does some crazy stuff to a woman's body and i figure if i'm going to spend any amount of time in there i might as well be doing something productive!

those are NOT stonewash jeans! ha! they do look that way in the picture, but they're just a lighter blue. they're the same ones i had on when you noticed my awesome backside. i wear them all the time because they're the best jeans ever.

i did the 80s to, only a little later than everyone else because i got all my cousins' hand-me-downs.
