gah!

We paused our Sonlight studies (which we were loving) to get ready for Tapestry of Grace. We did a quick catch-up to the French Revolution and attempted to launch TOG yesterday. I just had one last thing to print before sitting down on the couch......I thought. I spent hours printing. There is so much to wade through. 76 pages for week 1 alone. Where do I start with this??? I just wanted to sit on the couch and read! My instructions say "Hour 1"....."Hour 2"....etc. Is this day 1, day 2? The couch time discussion did take a full hour before we even got to the books....which I'm not seeing outlined anywhere - where do they fit in?.......do they want me to sit down for another hour today? I'm just not getting it and I'm not in the mood to try this hard.

If you've used TOG, I'd love advice. If not, I'd love your prayers. I need to give this a full, dedicated effort. I will tackle this with renewed energy in the morning.

Lord, I ask that You will give Jenn the ability to use TOG for this review. May she be able to see what is good about the program and enjoy using it so she can write a fair review. Amen.

...but, I must admit, I'm very happy that Sonlight is such a great fit for you and your family... and I hope that continues [smile].

I'm so with you on this one. Actually you are a step ahead of me...I haven't even printed it out...or gotten books from the library. It is so overwhelming to comprehend the instructions!

What level are your kids? The 2 hour discussions should only be for rhetoric level. The basic way we use TOG is look at the reading for the week and divide it up into manageable chunks. We discuss at the end of the week or sort of as we go. I don't have any children older than Upper Grammar though so I'm not using dialectic or rhetoric stuff.

Feel free to e-mail me and I can try to offer more specific help. We were already using TOG before the review so I've had more time to get used to it.
