Doing it, and doing it, and doing it well. Ish.

Chris has been laid off since just after Christmas. You would think we'd be way ahead of the game, having that extra pair of hands around, but somehow we get more lost than ever. It has felt like an odd, extended vacation. We've tackled extra projects around the house, creating more messes rather than less. It's been heavenly.

The lay-off ends on Sunday for Chris and our vacation comes to an end. Ironically, he doesn't have any vacation days left for the year: they were cancelled with his lay-off. So today, we're heading out with the kids for a quick mini-vacation. Nowhere special, nothing spectacular. But a Drury hotel will be involved, so the kids will be on cloud nine. There is an opportunity to curl up with a book in my future, so I'm on cloud nine as well. Chris gets to spend money and chase kids through a swimming pool. You'd think this would warrant a lesser-numbered cloud, but he's right there with us.
