I recently had the chance to review a fun children's book entitled God Gave Us The World. The girls have been studying winter animals and bears are on our list, so this book fit in perfectly as a fun bedtime story. The story begins with Little Cub visiting the Bear Museum with Mama Bear. Little Cub is introduced to Pandas, Polar bears, Grizzlies, and even Sloth bears from India. Though it does contain some detail about different kinds of bears and the way they live, the true purpose of the book is to give children a glimpse of diversity around the world and an appreciation for God's creativity and His intimate love for each of His children.
This sweet book shares the message that "Every bear has a special place in God's great, big world," but it also resonates with the message that each of us has a special place here and that we have an amazing God who cares for each of us very much. It is a beautiful picture of God as Creator and helps children (and parents) understand that it is in God's very nature to create.
This book is part of the "God Gave Us" Series by Lisa Tawn Bergren. While I knew about this charming series already, I had no idea the author had so many other works available, for adults and teens as well! The artwork in many of the books in this particular series consists of adorable watercolors by Laura J. Bryant, who is a truly talented illustrator.
This book was a treat for my family. And as Mama bear said, "It's always good to make new friends, try new things, and know more about this world that God gave us."
