The Wonderful Whirlypop

I have wanted one of these for years. But I never seemed to have the extra cash for one. Extra cash is for books, not popcorn. This summer, I finally ran across one at a yardsale. I washed it up, put it away, and promptly forgot about it. But I rediscovered it last night and had to share the most awesome recipe.

Snickerdoodle Popcorn
4 Tb popcorn kernels
4 Tb sugar
4 Tb Veg or Canola oil

Stir together over medium-high heat. Kernels will begin to pop in about 2 minutes. It won't take long for them to stop popping (about 1-2 minutes.) Remove from heat and sprinkle with Topping Mix:

2 tsp cinnamon
1 Tb sugar
1/4 tsp salt

Stir well. If it's in a whirlypop, just stir it in there. If it's in a skillet, pour into a bowl and stir well. Serve it up and enjoy. Serves 6 people very well.

This is sooooooooo yummy. Pouring the sugar in before it actually pops gives it a crispy, fried texture and the salty sweet combo is delectable.

And for those of you who know I'm supposed to be on the South Beach Diet this week......I don't want to hear it. I lost 8 lbs the first week. I cheated (BARELY) over the weekend and then stuck to it tightly the rest of the week. I didn't budge. All week and the scale didn't change. Yesterday, a rough day, I broke down and ate homemade pizza with the kiddos. And a truffle. And last night? I was finally down to 129 lbs. How? I don't know. But it was nice to finally see. I was at 129 lbs this morning but am up to 134 lbs now at lunch time. What have I eaten that added up to a 5 lb difference? 1 cup of popcorn. ?!?!?!?!? I give up.

Although, I do have to say that I can tell a huge difference in my achy-ness. So I'm not going to go nuts or anything. I was waking up so sore every morning and it never seemed to lift much until I went cold turkey off the sugar. My energy level didn't increase at all like I was hoping, but 1 out of 2 is still awesome. I went ahead and made a doctor's appt. for a month from now. A check-up can't hurt.

Hey!

I just wanted to encourage you-five pounds could be from water retention, hormonest, you name it!

I would get a checkup-I keep meaning to myself! You may be anemic-whenever my iron is lower (I have chronic anemia) I am so achy I can barely move early in the mornings.

I got below 150 for 24 hours last month and seem to be stuck at 153 give or take a few for the last 6 months. This time last year I was frozen at 150. THIS time it WILL go down to BELOW 140 and I will NOT return above it EVER! As long as I don't eat any more of those Candy Cane Hershey's Kisses. I hate that I love Christmas Candy so much! And sour cream! Why does it have to taste so good? Why can't I stop after a normal sized serving?
