Atonement

I just finished watching Atonement and was compelled to write a warning to anyone feeling drawn to watching it. After watching Becoming Jane (the only sad ending movie I have ever liked,) I thought I would try another movie with McAvoy. But Atonement isn't a sad ending. It's a miserable ending. Those who don't die, live miserably. The end. Bleh.

My daughter wanted to watch Becoming Jane, but after previewing it I decided that although for the most part it was ok for a 13 year old, the scene with the parents near the beginning made me immediately say NO... AND she wants to see Atonement - (big Keria Knightly fan) But I read a couple reviews and decided not only was it not appropriate for her, I didn't want to watch something and end up feeling miserable about it afterwards.

Good call, Stephanie. I really loved Becoming Jane, but wouldn't want my kids watching it with me (at least the beginning.) Atonement was a definite no. It shocked ME and really should have been turned off long before I was able to ascertain how it would end.

I agree! I could NOT believe the hype about this piece of crap movie! ICK!

And Becoming Jane was good, but there were some things in it I wouldn't want my kids to see (even though it is mostly fleeting) til they are quite a bit older...
