Happy Day, Happy Day!

Okay, this wasn't actually today, but I'm just sitting down and getting caught up on blogging. But it made me very, very happy that day and today. What's made me smile? The lovely Shanna gave me a Smile Award! And she truly is lovely, even without the award. But it helps ;P

Isn't it pretty?
Now, honestly, I know I would love Shanna in real life as well. She is sweet-hearted and it shines through in everything she writes. No guise in this woman. Inspiring! But she thought I had "smile award characteristics", so I'm not sure we can count on her judgement. :)

Characteristics for the Smile Award:
1. Must display a cheerful attitude. (not necessarily at all times--we are all human).
Bite me.
(KIDDING it just jumped out of there. Like tourettes or something. I just feel compelled sometimes.)

2. Must love one another.
With the Grace of God teaching me daily.

3. Must make mistakes.
Dang. See, I knew I couldn't qualify for this award!

4. Must learn from others.
Lots!

5. Must be a positive contributor to blog world.
I'm trying to head in that direction. I want to focus on what's working and what I'm learning more than what I'm griping about.

6. Must love life.
For a while, I think I was dozing through much of it...auto-pilot had set in. But it feels like spring now!
7. Must love kids.
Um. I love mine. I guess a few others, too. I don't have to love all kids to qualify, do I?

And now I get to share it with 5 of my bloggy friends:

Nicole, from He Gives Me Grace. She encourages me here and on her blog when she's not even trying. She has beautiful kids and shares glimpses into her family interacting together that remind me to stop and have fun.

Lawanda, from Lovin' Life. She's a hoot. She's real. I like real. And I like Lawanda.

Jennie of Far Beyond Pearls. Jennie is so sincere and loving. She loves her family and I feel like a guest welcomed in for coffee and pie when I visit her blog. She has great advice and loads of encouragement to share and I consider her a dear friend. And she doesn't seem to mind that I'm a sucky-comment-leaver. I read every day! I comment much less often. But if my kids hear me clicking on this keyboard, they come running to drag me away and get back on track.

Jessica of It's Not That Bad. I've known Jess since she was...well, I don't know....young. I got to know her back when Chris and I volunteered to teach Youth and she was a Yute. I think she taught me a whole lot more than I could have taught her. She was and is an amazing lady. And she's got a great butt.

Ginger of Raising ABEL. I LOVE her! This gal has got grace! She has lotsa littles and is so purposeful in her interacting with them. She reminds me what I'm supposed to be doing. She's revealing to me what it can look like to be the mom I want to be. More! More! Ginger! Keep sharing!

Here are the rules:

1. The recipient must link back to the awards creator (it's right on the award-The Babblings of Mere)
2. You must post these rules if you receive the award.
3. You must choose 5 people to receive the award after receiving it yourself.
4. You must fit the characteristics of the recipient of the award (see below.)
5. You must post the characteristics of a recipient.
6. You must create a post sharing your win with others.
7. You must thank your giver.

You crack me up! What are y'all still doing up at this hour? Decent people go to bed by 10:00 these days. lol. Or so I've heard.

I went to bed at 9:30. Is that bad? I had a headache, and it was movie night, and the kids made me watch "Alvin and the Chipmunks", which would have been bad enough, except this was a pirated copy that Davey brought back from Iraq and it was filmed in the theatre, so the sound wasn't so good and people kept walking in front of us and since it was a kids' movie, there was lots of talking in that theatre. I wish the lady with the ponytail up front, the one who arrived late, hadn't thought up six other reasons to get out of her seat. Same with the fellow with the big bottom right in front of us. I don't know why that jock and his girl even bothered coming halfway through the show. :-)

But thanks for the award! I'm glad if I make you smile, and you make me smile, too. :-)

I'll see if I can get around to making a linky post soon!

Hey, in my defense it WAS a Friday night.... ;) We had just walked down to my parents house to leave off some kids there. I have so many I thought I'd share the love! LOL

I have this almost finished, but I am posting it Sunday :) :) :)

Oh, I'm glad you liked the award! I don't think I've been blogging long enough to know if these awards are really just a nuisance, like the 423 forwards I get in my email inbox everyday.

I actually squealed in delight when I saw the post giving one to me...isn't that pathetic? :o) I think my husband was relieved. I'm pretty sure he's getting tired of me singing, "Everyone hates me...guess I'll go eat worms" everytime I check my blog and says "0 Comments"...*grin*.
