We took a great walk after Thanksgiving dinner and I came home with lots of pictures.
We hiked UP.
WAY up.
How far up? If you look very closely at the picture above, towards the left/low/middle, you will see Ethan below and across.

Here's a close-up.
I took the picture quickly and ske-daddled back down even more quickly. I don't like heights.
Next, we walked down to the old house.
Chris' dad grew up in this house until he was around 10 years old. That was a long time ago.Next, we walked down to the old house.
Not really all THAT long ago; the house has gone downhill fast. It was just fun to poke at my Father-in-Law just a bit. :D
I love this door. Isn't it beautiful? Can't you just hear the creaking it must have made as it swung open and the the swift smack shut it gave as little boys ran outside to play?
Comfy seat on the front porch.
There were so many interesting things around the house and yard. I stocked up on many Wordless Wednesday photos.

Old barn.

Me, in a ridiculous shirt. Seriously, WHAT was I thinking? And this picture looks nothing like me. I'd handed the camera to Ethan to hopefully get a shot of me to share. My profile shows you my feet, but I rarely show a picture of me. This doesn't really help though since it's just a shot of my backside. It's a theme.
Not me either.
Closer to me, but still not what I really look like.
Yep. Sarcastic. That one, unfortunately, looks more like me.
Ethan and Joel
Chris with Honor. Sarah was back at the house with Grandma....and pie.
Here is "back at the house". Chris' grandparents moved up to the house after his great-grandparents retired and moved to town. The house and farm have been in the family since 1890. It's where we all meet every Thanksgiving. The family has grown and stretched and the house seems to have stretched with it.
The family let me in as one of them several years before Chris and I were married, so I have been a part of this family for more years than not now. Wow. I'm old.

YOU. ARE. ADORABLE!
I like your shirt :)
I love the scenery on the farm! I always loved visiting my grandparents' birth places! SO interesting! And so cool!
Your kids are just so cute :) And you and your dh are too! That is where they get it from, huh? ;)
Those are some cool pics :)
I love these photos, Jenn! Old (especially falling down) buildings are some of my favorite things. That barn! It's a log barn with siding over top! How cool is that? What an awesome place to come home to for Thanksgiving. You can just tell it's packed with family history.
Lawanda is right. You *are* adorable. And those boys look so much like their daddy!
Oh, wow! Thanks! I completely disagree, but it still feels great to hear! LOL!
I loved the shirt in the store, but it isn't a great Mom-shirt, ya know? And it's really not great for hiking. I borrowed a jacket for the first half of the hike, but it's owner had to leave before we were finished. It's pretty snagged up now.
You are beautiful!!!
My father in law takes a similar hike every Thanksgiving :) I went ONCE-your a good daughter in law!!
Hike?! You can walk after you eat Thanksgiving Dinner?! :o)
The photos are gorgeous! What a great backdrop for an extended family potrait that would be!
I would love to visit that old house for some pictures. There are some nice older houses around here...but you there's the risk you will run into homeless people or addicts passed out in them.
Still though. I can hear the squeak on that door. And the boards on the porch. I can also feel the breeze that must have wafted through there on a summer evening.
I love old places like that. It's real, living history. Even better if you know the people who lived there.
Yeah...I love old places like that.
And pie. I like pie.
