No use crying

About 6 months ago, I noticed a beautiful milk-glass bowl in an antique shop. It was so simple. Just creamy white with ribbed edges; '40's functionality at it's finest. But it wasn't a need.... so I walked on.

A month or so later, I saw it again - it was still there! I'd never seen one like it. And again I resisted the urge. The budget was tight. It wasn't a need.

A month or so later, I hinted to Chris...there's a beautiful milk-glass bowl that would look so nice serving our dinner.

A month or so later, he was actualy on his way to buy the bowl for me when he got rear-ended. It was forgotten.

A month or so later (today,) I finally decided I was going to buy my bowl. I couldn't believe it was still there. It was gorgeous and it was only $5.00. I could just see my Snickered Apple Salad on the Thanksgiving table in that bowl. I bought it!

After leaving the antique store (with 4 kids in tow,) I headed to the grocery store. After an hour of that excitement, we all piled in the van to finally go home. Warm home, warm supper, warm bath. Then I heard it: CRASH!

Joel accidentally kicked it out of the van, busting it into shards in the parking lot.

I hung my head, breathed through my nose for a while, and then smiled. I wanted to take out my frustration of the whole day on that one moment - a moment that was an accident that could have happened to anyone. But I didn't. I smiled and told the kids "There's no use crying over spilt milkglass."

(I did sigh a little though when no one was looking)

SuperMom. Sorry about the bowl, though.

You're my hero.

Sorry about the bowl - sounds like something I'd fall in love with, too.

You're a wonderful Mommy.

Awww....Jenn,
Sorry about the bowl, but I really admire the example you set for your children! I'm sure they knew full well your disappointment and you didn't have to scream and lose control! Good for you and your children!
Gosh, you just weren't supposed to have that bowl, huh?
You'll have to post your apple recipe you mentioned!
